Keep your hands off the dress code. Give baristas a contract.
Starbucks must stop prioritizing control over worker expression and start focusing on what really matters: fair union contracts. These contracts should protect workers’ hours, wages, benefits, and rights, including the right to be themselves at work.
Why is this important?
The company’s new dress code targets the self-expression of BIPOC, queer, trans, and disabled workers, while ignoring the real issues baristas face every day: understaffing, unstable schedules, and uncertain paychecks.
Without a union contract, policies can change at any moment and be enforced unfairly.
Baristas keep Starbucks stores running. They deserve stability, respect, and a contract now.
